Green Bay Packers’ tight end Luke Musgrave nearly scored his first NFL touchdown during Week 1 of the season. The rookie had to wait eight weeks to get another chance.
The Packers’ second-round pick (No. 42) in the 2023 NFL draft and a former Bend High and Oregon State star took advantage of this second opportunity, scoring his first NFL touchdown during the Packers’ 20-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Musgrave caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Love in the fourth quarter.
Musgrave’s snag pushed the Packers’ lead to 20-3 late in the fourth quarter. Needless to say, Musgrave was excited.
Musgrave caught three passes for a game-high 51 receiving yards in the game. The touchdown catch should help Musgrave forget about his chance to score during Week 1.
Musgrave was wide open near the sideline when Love threw a pass his way. He was about 15 yards from the goal line with no defender near him. Musgrave had to wait for the football and when he caught the ball, he stumbled and fell to the turf. Had Musgrave stayed on his feet, he could’ve walked into the end zone for the score.
Musgrave has caught 27 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown in eight games.
