Portland State University requests input on Prineville Reservoir Resort

Portland State University is requesting that members of the public participate in a survey related to the Prineville Reservoir Resort area.

The survey includes a series of questions related to the recreation and facility needs and goals for the Crook County area and the Prineville Reservoir Resort, according to a statement on the Portland State website. The survey is being administered by Portland State on behalf of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

The resort is currently owned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and was previously operated by a private concessionaire. Operations ceased in 2019, and management was turned over to Oregon State Parks.

When it functioned, the resort had more than 80 campground sites, a six-room hotel, a restaurant and a boat launch facility. Many of the facilities now require significant renovation and investment. The recent drought has made the boat launch access unpredictable.

Responses to the survey are voluntary and will be kept confidential. One person per household is requested to respond to the survey, considering all members of the household. The survey can be accessed at www.prinevillerecsurvey.com.

Results will be summarized and used as part of the public planning process for the resort area. Preliminary results will be shared at an online meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Questions about the survey and online meeting can be directed to mansonp@pdx.edu.
