The Color Study heads indie-rock bill at Open Space

The Color Study plays with The Fourth Wall and Milk for the Angry Friday at Open Space Event Studios.

Let’s take a second to shout out Bend-based band The Color Study, who are not only a great psychedelic pop-rock act, but they’ve also lined up an exciting show for local lovers of indie rock Friday night at Open Space Event Studios.

Here’s who’s on the bill:

• The aforementioned Color Study, who play, as I’ve said in GO! before, “Lush, guitar-centered pop-rock songs draped in echo and dressed up with vocal harmonies, plentiful crescendos, vibrant horn parts, unexpected song-structure turns and more studio wizardry.”

• The Fourth Wall, a Portland-based band that explores the highways and byways between melodic psych-pop, skronky noise-rock and pretty shoegaze, not unlike the great Deerhunter, if you know them. The Fourth Wall has an album coming out next spring, and it’s good.

• Milk for the Angry, a band from San Francisco that sounds more or less like the other bands on the bill, but a little poppier and bouncier, and with a stranger name. That’s a compliment, by the way. Strange names rule.
