Classically trained musician and DJ Tsuruda appears Friday at Volcanic Theatre Pub in Bend.

An accusation that’s often hurled at electronic music producers and DJs is that they simply stand on stage, press a button to start the music, then get to pumping their fist and hyping up the crowd.

That may be true for some, but not Tsuruda. The Los Angeles-based DJ is not just a button-pusher, but a classically trained musician who brings a dynamic and distinctive perspective to his booming blend of beats and bass.
