Pedestrian dies after being hit by pickup in SW Redmond

A Redmond woman died after being hit by a pickup truck while she was walking across SW Canal Boulevard just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Maria Socorro Nunez Rodriguez, 85, of Redmond, died at the scene, according to the Redmond Police Department.

Police said Nunes Rodriguez was attempting to walk across the two lanes of SW Canal, just north of SW Odem Medo Road, when she was struck by a Ford pickup traveling south and driven by a 45-year-old Bend man.
The pickup driver was unhurt. The man remained on scene, and police said he was cooperating with the investigation.
Redmond Police Capt. Aaron Wells would not comment further and said the incident is still under investigation.
Canal Boulevard was closed for about three hours as the Oregon State Police assisted in reconstructing the incident.
