- Students attend class at Crook County High School in March 2022.
A bomb threat email sent to the Crook County School District on Monday was a hoax, and staff and students were never in danger, according to law enforcement agencies.
The email ended up in a spam folder, due to the email address domain, nerdmail.co, and username, which was iwillgougeyoureyesout0. The district’s technology department didn’t discover the email until Tuesday.
Other Oregon schools received similar hoax bomb threats, and the Portland branch of the FBI is now investigating and considers this a widespread hoax. Churches and airports also received fake threats.
School resource officers Jeff Coffman and Kathryn Bottoms, as well as the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, went through school buildings and found nothing suspicious.
