Kareem Abdul-Jabbar underwent surgery for a broken hip Saturday after falling at a concert Friday night in L.A. Abdul-Jabbar disclosed in 2020 he had prostate cancer.
FOOTBALL
Blake Delacruz rushed for 208 yards, Braden Jay added 161 yards and three TDs on the ground and Harding won its first Division II title, defeating Colorado School of Mines 38-7 on Saturday.
The Bisons become the first team to rush for 6,000 yards in a season at any level, finishing with 6,161 yards.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid was fined $100,000 and quarterback Patrick Mahomes was fined $50,000 for criticizing officials following Kansas City’s 20-17 loss to Buffalo last week, a person familiar with the decision told AP. Reid and Mahomes violated the NFL’s policy for comments about an offside penalty that negated a TD.
Amit Patel, a 31-year-old former Jacksonville Jaguars financial manager accused of stealing more than $22 million from the franchise, pleaded guilty to federal charges Thursday and faces up to 30 years in prison.
