Ann Marie Woods (née Sweeney) passed away on Monday, December 11th in her home in Bend Oregon. Ann was the dear first child of Neil Sweeney and Esther (Wing) Sweeney. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Petrone, nine children and their families. Her daughter, Judy, preceded her in death as did her husband, Richard Woods.

Ann was born in Lewiston Idaho on January 25, 1932 and grew up in Genessee Idaho. She learned to read in a one room school house where her mother had taught before Ann was born. She attended high school at Holy Names in Spokane Washington. She later graduated from Seattle University and taught elementary school on Beacon Hill in Seattle Washington, where her first son, Neil, was born. Neil was followed by nine siblings, Mark, Catherine, Paul, Joan, Ruth, Ted, Judy, Sarah, and Mary. She moved to Bend in 1965 and was active in St. Francis school, first as a parent and later as a volunteer. A strong woman with a deep well of love, she will be remembered as a beautiful mother, sister, friend.

Services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on NE 27th on Monday, December 18: Rosary 10 AM, Mass 10:30 AM and burial at Pilot Butte Cemetery. The church service will be livestreamed (stfrancisbend.org). The family welcomes friends to join them at Ann’s home after the burial. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Partners in Care hospice.
