- Boy Scout troops collect Christmas trees in Bend for recycling in 2017.
Central Oregon Boy Scouts will collect and recycle Christmas trees in Bend during the weekends of Dec. 30-31 and Jan. 6-7.
The scouts request a donation of $10 or more for collecting and hauling away trees. The donations fund troop activities and community service projects. It is also used to replace gear used by scouts throughout the year.
On the recycling weekends, troops in Bend will drive through neighborhoods for tree pickup starting at 8 a.m. They ask that trees be cleaned of all decorations and placed by the street where they can be easily visible to scouts and drivers. Alleys will not be checked.
Donations can be made via PayPal or Venmo by visiting takeyourtree.com and clicking on the area of your residence. The website is also the place to visit for questions and contact information. Donations can also be placed in a sealable plastic bag and attached to the tree using a rubber band. Checks should be made payable to Scouts BSA.
