The Bend Police Department has yet to identify the suspect or victim. The incident is being investigated as a homicide, said spokeswoman Sheila Miller.

Bend Police responded to a reported domestic dispute on the 300 block of Lee Lane at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police arrived at the home within one minute of the call and found an injured person.

Police tried to provide aid, but the person died at the scene.

Police found the suspect at the home and took the person to the police department.

Police shut down the area as authorities investigated, Miller said. Lee Lane and Woodland Boulevard were closed between Third and Fourth streets.

The home at the center of the investigation, one of several small rental units, was decorated with string Christmas lights and two Santa hats above the front door on Tuesday.

This is the fifth homicide investigation in Deschutes County in 2023.

In June, Mark Johnson, 45, and his son, Iceton Johnson, 18, were arrested on suspicion of killing Esaui John Mutchler, 42, in a drive-by shooting in Redmond earlier that day.

They face charges of second-degree murder and have pleaded not guilty.

In July, Joseph Keeton, 56, died after he was severely mauled by three dogs at a homeless camp in the Juniper Ridge area.

Jessica Rae McCleery, 38, who owned the dogs, has been charged with manslaughter.

She pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide last week.

Her sentencing hearing is scheduled Friday.

Also in July, police found Evelyn Weaver, 28, dead in her home.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide but have made no arrests and have not said how she died.

In August, Taylor Wyss, 33, was shot and killed after a dispute at a Bend bar, prompting a nationwide manhunt for the shooting suspect, Caleb Cegers, 20, and his brother, Dahnte Cegers, 25, who is accused of helping him flee the state.

The younger Cegers has been charged with second-degree murder.
