Warm Springs Police and the FBI are investigating a threat of a school shooting that was spreading on social media Tuesday morning.

“At this time the validity of this threat to any specific school has not been found,” the Warm Springs Police Department posted Tuesday morning on Facebook.

Warm Springs Police are asking any members of the public with information about the threat to call 541-553-1171.

Bend Police increased its presence around schools Tuesday morning in response to the threat, said spokeswoman Sheila Miller.

In an email statement to local families, Bend-La Pine Schools said it was aware of the social media post “that indicated a threat of violence against several other school districts in Central Oregon.”

“Law enforcement is investigating the post and has determined there is no credible school threat,” the district said. “The post did not name schools in the Bend-La Pine School District, and Bend Police have determined our district may operate as usual today.”
