Nearly 700 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.

Valerie Bowman, a sophomore on the Bend High girls wrestling team, and Logan Hartman, a junior on the Bend High boys wrestling team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Bowman was nominated by Bend coach Luke Larwin after the 115/120-pounder pinned all six of her opponents, with three of them coming in the first round at the Northwest Duals on Dec. 28-29.

Hartman was nominated by Bend coach Luke Larwin after the 215-pounder won all seven of his matches at the Northwest Duals Dec. 28-29, helping the Lava Bears to a 7-1 record and a fifth-place finish. Hartman finished with five pins.

A new batch of nominations will be announced on Monday, Jan. 8. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
