Weekend winter storm expected to bring more snow to Central Oregon

- With fresh snow falling all around them, three geese lift off of the frigid waters of the Little Deschutes River on Tuesday morning near Thousand Trails Bend-Sunriver RV Campground.
The recent snowfall in Bend could be just a practice run.
Bend, Madras, Prineville and Redmond could get 10 to 16 inches more by early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas around Sunriver and La Pine could see 16 to 40 inches.

The weather service issued a winter storm warning for the region from 1 a.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday. Amounts in the Cascades could be closer to 2 feet or more, according to the forecast.
Low temperatures could drop down into single digits with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sunday for Central Oregon, including the cities of Bend, Madras, Prineville, and Redmond, the weather service announced Friday.
Very cold wind chills are expected, going as low as 15 below zero.
Take precautions before traveling
Travel may be difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute, the forecast reported. Downed trees may occur.
The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
