- A forestry technician tends to a pile of burning brush outside Sisters in 2013.
Crews from the Sisters Ranger District were scheduled to burn woodpiles Wednesday, 1 mile southwest of Sisters along Edgington Road, the Deschutes National Forest said in a statement.
The district advised the public that smoke may be visible from Sisters and the surrounding area. Residents are encouraged to keep doors and windows closed to help decrease smoke impacts.
The piles contain debris, including limbs and branches, left over from tree thinning and brush clearing.
The thinning and clearing reduces potential fuel for wildfires.
