Mylaena Norton and Brady Johns voted as The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week

More than 1,100 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.
Mylaena Norton, a sophomore on the Redmond girls basketball team, and Brady Johns, a senior on the Mountain View wrestling team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Norton was nominated by Redmond coach Alex Carlson after she finished with 21 points, five assists and seven steals in a 69-52 win over Summit on Jan. 9, then had 24 points, three rebounds and four steals in a 67-49 win over Caldera Jan. 12. Norton hit 10 3s during the two games.
Johns was nominated by Mountain View coach Dan Potts after the 157-pounder won all eight of his matches at the Oregon Wrestling Classic. He tallied four pins, one technical fall and two major decisions to help the Cougars finish fourth at the tournament.
A new batch of nominations will be announced on Monday, Jan. 22. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
