Man presumed drown while ice fishing in Baker County

A man who was ice fishing Thursday on a Baker County is presumed to have drowned after apparently falling through ice weakened by recent warm temperatures.
According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy found items in the reservoir belonging to Mark Norenberg, 69, of Granite after responding to a report of an empty chair near a hole in the ice off the boat ramp above Mason Dam on Phillips Reservoir.

The sheriff’s office’s search and rescue team, along with Norenberg’s family, were expected to continue efforts to find him on Saturday. The sheriff’s office is asking the public to avoid the area during the search.
A caller reported seeing a chair on the frozen reservoir with a large opening beside it just before 3 p.m. There was a vehicle parked at the boat ramp above Mason Dam, along with a dog.
A deputy found the vehicle and dog. The vehicle belonged to Norenberg.
A search and rescue team arrived, and Deputy Adam Robb, equipped with a dry suit and tethered to a rope, went onto the ice with a rescue raft. When he reached the chair, about 35 yards from shore, Robb fell through the ice. While in the water he found items belonging to Norenberg, according to the sheriff’s office.
Other team members pulled Robb to shore.
