More than 1,200 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.

Mackenzie Shearon, a junior on the Redmond girls wrestling team, and Eric Larwin, a junior on the Bend High wrestling team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the girls and boys Athletes of the Week.

Shearon was nominated by Redmond coach Kris Davis after the 155-pounder pinned four of her opponents at the Lady Dragon Invitational on Jan. 20 in Dallas to finish first in her weight class and help the Panthers win the team title.

Eric Larwin was nominated by Bend coach Luke Larwin after the junior won his 144-pound match with a pin in a dual meet vs. Caldera on Jan. 20 to improve to 29-4 on the season. The team captain has 24 pins this season.

A new batch of nominations will be announced on Monday, Jan. 29. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
