Aryna Sabalenka, the No. 2-ranked player, clinched back-to-back titles at Melbourne Park with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 12-seeded Zheng Qinwen in the women’s final. She is the first woman since Victoria Azarenka to win consecutive Australian singles titles.

FIGURE SKATING

Madison Chock and Evan Bates won their fifth U.S. figure skating title in the ice dance, despite an illness that began two days earlier. Chock and Bates scored 215.92 points after their free skate to outpace Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko.
