A Bend father is facing criminal charges after he shot his 7-year-old son at their home Sunday afternoon, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported as an accident, according to a Monday press release from Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Wall.

Roy Ipock, 32, faces charges of third-degree assault, recklessly endangering another person and negligent wounding in the shooting of the boy, said Wall.
Police did not name the boy but said he was taken to a hospital in the Portland area, where he was in stable condition Monday morning.
Police responded to a report of “an apparent gunshot wound” at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Wall said. The initial reports said a 7-year-old boy had been shot by accident.
Ipock was “manipulating” a handgun in the living room of their home on Hunnell Road in Bend when the gun went off, striking the boy around his armpit, Wall said.
Emergency responders took the boy to St. Charles Bend, but he was moved to a hospital in Portland for treatment.
Detectives interviewed people who were present when the shooting occurred, searched the home and collected evidence. Ipock cooperated with the investigation, Wall said. Police cited him for the alleged crimes instead of taking him into custody.
