More than 1,400 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.

Olivia Tranby, a junior on the Mountain View girls nordic skiing team, and Rex Cordell, a senior on the Mountain View boys nordic skiing team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Tranby was nominated by The Bulletin’s sports staff after winning the 5K cross-country race at Hoodoo Ski Area in 19 minutes, 16.2 seconds, more than 30 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She helped the Cougars finish first among OISRA Southern League teams competing.

Cordell was nominated by The Bulletin’s sports staff after winning the 5K cross-country ski race at Hoodoo Ski Area Feb. 3 in 14:46.5, helping the Cougars pick up an OISRA Southern League team win.

New nominations will be announced on Monday, Feb. 12. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
