Caldera, Mountain View teams win Nordic skiing Southern League titles

The Caldera girls and the Mountain View boys finished atop the final team standings in the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association Nordic (OISRAN) Southern League after the final races on Saturday at Meissner Sno-park west of Bend.

Mountain View’s Kevin Mattox placed first in the boys final individual standings with 216 points, followed by teammates Liam Rockwell (213) and Josiah Tranby (208).

Zack Shockey of Mountain View won the 5-kilometer classic race on Saturday in 16 minutes, 56 seconds, followed by Will Mowry of Bend High (17:21) and Eli Shockey of Mountain View (18:19).

Atlin Wognild of Mountain View finished atop the girls final individual standings with 236 points, followed by teammates Olivia Tranby (233) and Mackenzie Marty (220).

Bend High’s Neve Gerard won the girls 5K classic race on Saturday in 18:01, followed by Maddie Carney of Caldera (19:37) and Olivia Tranby (24:33).

The OISRAN state championships are set for Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 9 a.m.
