- Local stand-up comedians will perform in "Comedy is my Therapy" on Saturday at Craft Kitchen & Brewery.
Bend’s comedy scene is bursting with shows this week. Over a couple of days, you can dabble in improv, watch a neighbor’s new kitchen-counter material and go together to see one of the greats.
Watch and try improvisational comedy at Bend Institute of Comedy’s “Open House Bananza Show.” See Sean Jordan and local Bend stand-ups perform mindfully in the Sleeper Comedy show at Silver Moon Brewery. Craft Kitchen and Brewery hosts “Comedy is my Therapy.” And, to top it all off, clean comic Brian Regan, many comedians’ favorite comedian, will be at Tower Theatre.
Open House Bonanza Show
Bend Institute of Comedy students will get a chance to perform with house troupe Alpha Team members at this improv comedy show. At one point, audience members will have the opportunity to try improv themselves. Then the full Alpha Team will take to the stage to close out the show.
Audience members are encouraged to bring home essential, dry food and canned food donations for the institute’s donation drive for Shepherd’s House Ministries’ Women and Children’s Center.
7:30-9 p.m. Friday; Open Space Event Studios, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend; bendinstituteofcomedy.com.
Sleeper Comedy with Sean Jordan
Promoting an environment where no subject is off-topic and comedy is handled with care, Sleeper Comedy is a stand-up comedy show from a place of love. Sean Jordan, who’s been on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and voted Portland’s funniest person, will headline the show with local comedians opening. Bend artists get in for $5.
8 p.m. Saturday; Silver Moon Brewing, 24 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; $20; silvermoonbrewing.com/events.
Comedy is my Therapy
This local stand-up showcase will feature local comedians Nick Scalfone, Brent Bybee, Steve Harber and host Fredo. The show is 21+ and strong content should be expected. Craft Kitchen and Brewery hosts a show every Saturday and a comedy open mic every Wednesday.
8 p.m. Saturday; Craft Kitchen & Brewery, 62988 Layton Ave., Suite 103, Bend; $10 plus fees; craftoregon.com.
Brian Regan
Observational, mocking and self-deprecating stand-up Brian Regan may be considered the comedian who makes other comedians laugh the hardest. As Entertainment Weekly put it: “Your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian.” He’s a true professional who’s been touring for over 30 years and appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman” over 25 times.
7:30 p.m. Tuesday; Tower Theatre, 835 NW Wall St., Bend; $46 (plus $4 Historic Preservation fee); towertheatre.org.
