Nearly 1,000 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.

Adeline Bennett, a sophomore on the Summit girls swimming team, and Brody Fischer, a senior on the Sisters boys basketball team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Bennett was nominated by Summit swim coach Nolan Morrell after Bennett had a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 56.29 seconds) and a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.71), while also helping the Storm finish third in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay at the Intermountain Conference championships on Feb. 10.

Fischer was nominated by Sisters basketball coach Chad Rush after Fisher averaged 16 points over two games last week, including a 19-point performance in the Outlaws’ 39-32 loss to Harrisburg Feb. 9. Fischer went a combined 7-of-13 from 3-point range.

New nominations will be announced on Monday, Feb. 19. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
