The Portland Trail Blazers have signed rookie center Duop Reath to a three-year contract. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news.
Reath, 27, is averaging 8.9 points and 3.8 rebounds for the Blazers. Reath’s outside shooting, 38.5% on 3-pointers, provides the perfect compliment to the starter Deandre Ayton’s inside and mid-range game.
Born in South Sudan, his family moved to Australia where he eventually gave up soccer to focus primarily on basketball. That led him to playing at LSU (2016-2018). He went undrafted in 2018 and ended up playing in the Serbian League, the National Basketball League and the Chinese Basketball Association.
