More than 500 readers cast votes for The Bulletin’s Athlete of the Week, and the winners have been announced.

Taylor Echeverria, a freshman on the Crook County girls wrestling team, and Ian Prictor, a senior on the Mountain View boys basketball, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week for Feb. 12-17.

Prictor was nominated by The Bulletin’s sports staff after the senior had two 20-plus scoring games last week. On Feb. 12 against Redmond he scored 27 points, then against Bend on Feb. 15 he scored 21 to lead the Cougars to a 66-56 win.

Echeverria was nominated by The Bulletin’s sports staff after the 115-pounder won her weight class at the 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 1 tournament at Scappoose High School on Feb. 17. The freshman pinned two opponents and had a technical fall in her four matches.

New nominations will be announced on Monday, Feb. 26. Local players are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
