Endorsement for Deschutes River footbridge

As a resident who’s spent countless hours exploring Bend’s natural beauty, I’m compelled to endorse Connect Bend’s footbridge project.

Bend’s beloved Deschutes River Trail near Good Dog Park needs our help. Years of heavy use have left the area eroded, dusty, and with confusing trails. Connect Bend’s footbridge project offers a solution.

This bridge will connect the existing trail to the Rimrock Trailhead, improving access for hikers and bikers. But more importantly, it allows for responsible development.

Connect Bend, committed to environmental protection, will partner with BPRD for:

  • Rehabilitation: Restoring the landscape and protecting the riverbank.
  • Marked Trails: Creating clear paths to minimize future damage.
  • Fencing: Protecting sensitive areas.

This project goes beyond convenience. It’s a chance to heal the environment and ensure its continued beauty. Additionally, by offering a dedicated pathway, the footbridge will reduce traffic congestion, benefiting both the environment and our enjoyment of the outdoors.

This isn’t just about building a bridge; it’s about building a sustainable future for this beloved area. The footbridge will become a gateway to nature, not a gateway to further degradation.

Let’s support Connect Bend’s vision for a sustainable future. Join me in endorsing this project and let’s protect this cherished part of Bend for generations to come.
