Jim Wakefield

1950 – 2024

Jim Wakefield joined with the stars on January 27, 2024. He was 73 years young. His last days on earth were spent at Partners in Care Hospice House surrounded by a few good friends and family. Jim was preceded in death by his natural father George James Sharos, his adoptive father Myles Martin Wakefield and his mother Helen Pallis Schick. He is survived by his loving

wife of 23 years, Pamela Paget-Wakefield and loving stepdaughter, Rachel Thomas (Craig Thomas).

James George Sharos was born on October 20th, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He was an only child. He was adopted by Myles Martin Wakefield in 1964. He attended Midwest Military Academy during his younger years, eventually attending Niles East High School. Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree at Northern Illinois University, where he studied graphic design. He moved to Bend in the late 1970’s eventually starting Cascade Graphics, a printing company, with two friends. After a short sabbatical, Jim became the sole owner of Cascade

Graphics in the late 1980’s and retired in 2010. After retirement he spent almost 10 years volunteering for the Pine Mountain Observatory.

Jim had many friends with whom he shared so many interests: photography, rock climbing, fishing, rafting, skiing, camping, traveling, astronomy and astrophotography. A life well lived, Jim will be remembered fondly by his friends and family as an intelligent, adventurous, fun, caring and loyal friend who couldn’t pass up an opportunity to spoof someone. He will be sorely missed.

There is no planned service at this time. If you are inclined, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Partners in Care in Bend, The American Cancer Society, or your favorite natural world or wildlife organization.
