Summit wins combined boys and girls alpine skiing state title, and combined girls title

- The Summit boys finished third in the combined team standings at the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association alpine state championships.
MT. HOOD MEADOWS — Summit once again rules the slopes.
The Storm won the boys and girls combined team competition Thursday and Friday at the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association alpine state championships for the second straight year.
Summit won the state title by 7.42 seconds over Hood River Valley. The boys and girls team competition combined the results of both genders in slalom and giant slalom. Sunset finished third.
Some 250 high school skiers from teams throughout Oregon gathered at Mt. Hood Meadows for the two-day OISRA state event.
Summit finished atop the girls combined team standings. Hood River Valley was second (1.77 seconds behind) and Jesuit took third (8.93 seconds back).
Summit’s Anja Bond-Welch finished sixth in the girls individual combined, 11.53 seconds behind winner Emily Teets of Hood River Valley. The Storm’s Quincy Doden was 18th (16.73 seconds back) and her teammate Geneva Grube took 26th (25.04 seconds back). Ava Riehle of Sisters finished 29th (32.11 back).
Tracy Opal of Summit claimed second place in girls slalom, .64 seconds behind winner Teets.
The Summit boys finished third in the combined team standings, 23.98 seconds behind winner Lincoln. Sunset was second, Bend High seventh and Sisters ninth.
Summit’s Preston Schock finished third in the individual combined, 7.17 seconds back from winner Lucas Garcia of Lincoln. Sisters’ Spencer Tisdel placed 20th (23.13 back) and Bend High’s Vincent Phillips finished 24th (26.78 back).
Central Oregon teams at the OISRA alpine state championships also included Mountain View and Caldera.
Summit, Bend, Mountain View and Caldera competed in the Oregon School Ski Association Central League this season, with Summit taking the league title. Schock won the boys overall league title and Doden claimed the girls overall league title.
