Former President Donald Trump will be the lone candidate to appear on the state’s Republican primary ballot, while President Joe Biden will appear on the Democratic primary ballot alongside long-shot candidate Marianne Williamson.
Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade on Wednesday released the final list of the three presidential candidates who will appear on the state’s May primary ballots.
While Williamson will appear on the ballot, Biden has already received enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination. Trump has clinched the Republican nomination. Williamson, an author, describes herself as a political activist and spiritual thought leader on her website.
Oregon’s primary will take place May 21 — too late for voters to have much say in the presidential contest. However, there are plenty of other interesting contests that many voters will weigh in on during the primary. Depending on a person’s party and residence, those may include contests for their party’s nominees for Congress and statewide offices, including secretary of state, attorney general and treasurer.
Oregon voters not affiliated with a party or registered with a minor party will not get to vote in partisan races but can weigh in on ballot measures and in nonpartisan races such as for county commissioner or sheriff.
Oregon voters can go to Oregonvotes.gov to check that they are registered to vote and ensure they are registered at the correct address and with the political party of their choice.
