Phyllis A. Miller

October 10, 1942 – February 27, 2024

Phyllis Arlene (Yoder) Miller, 82, of Redmond, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 27, 2024. Phyllis was born in McMinnville, Oregon in 1942 to Calvin and Ruth Yoder, who preceded her death. Phyllis grew up alongside her four-surviving siblings Joyce (Jerry) Lundeen, Maurice (Lorna) Yoder, Nancy Kinnaman and Elnor (Mark) Corwin. Survived by her loving husband Dan Miller, whom she met while living in Willamina, Oregon. They married at Fairview Mennonite Church in 1961. Phyllis’s first born, Rodney Miller, preceded her in death. She’s survived by her children Charlene Burke, Galen Miller, and Kim Layton. She shared as much love for her children’s surviving spouses Jim Burke, Millie Miller and David Layton. She is survived by four grandchildren; Ryan & Megan Burke, Drew & Cody Layton; and her great-grandchildren Aliana, Remington and Rebecca Burke. Phyllis enjoyed her monthly bunco group, attending church on Sunday’s, knitting, and playing games like solitaire and scrabble. Her ultimate joy in life was hosting family and friends for home-cooked meals. Whether it be lunch after church or family visiting from out of town, she always prepared a beautiful spread. For Phyllis cooking extended beyond her home; she worked for St. Charles Redmond, formerly Central Oregon Community Hospital, for more than four decades. It’s safe to say that Phyllis is a legend in that space, cooking thousands of meals for patients and staff throughout her career. I know she’s very proud to have served her community for all those years. She’ll rest peacefully knowing the lives she touched are memorializing her. Phyllis deserves eternal rest & relaxation and to be with those that left before her. May she rest peacefully. Please join us to celebrate her life on April 6, 2024, 11:00 am at Highland Baptist Church in Redmond OR.
