What’s going up: Final phase of Reed South project includes new market

Project details: The majority of the project is finished and operational. Gas station and convenience store Reed Crossing Market is a new, rebranded store by the owners of Expressway at Reed Market Road and 15th Street. Once the gas station-convenience store market is finished, the Reed South project will be complete.
Connor Stephenson, lead property manager with Empire Construction & Development, said the structure for the new gas station and convenience store should be finished in May.
Along with a new name, Expressway co-owner Dan Healy said the new store will come with local products and healthier options. Two featured additions are brick oven pizza and self-serve frozen yogurt. Healy said the existing Expressway at Reed Market and 15th Street will remain open.
Stephenson said the businesses on site will be a great service to a growing neighborhood. Two housing developments going up in the area, which had been a food desert, could add 2,500 homes.
“We’re really excited,” said Healy, co-owner of the family business that has been in Bend for more than 30 years. “There’s a ton of growth in this area of town and it will be an honor to serve the new and longstanding residents.”
Already open: Multiple businesses already occupy spaces at the project site. Cascade Lakes Brewery, Breathe Deep Dental and The Great Greek are all operating out of their spaces, while Axel’s Taco Shop and Haven Bagel and Coffee are in the process of opening.
To be filled: Unoccupied spaces include a 1,500-square-foot space with a drive through and a 3,300-square-foot space. Another 9,000 square feet is available in a building with second story office space.
Empire Construction & Development has built over 50 construction projects, from industrial business parks and commercial buildings to residential homes in Central Oregon. This mixed-use development features sections of brick and modern industrial facade. Construction began in summer of 2022.
What’s going up: Bend condos under construction start at $1.2 million
