High Fade brings the high-energy funk to Bend’s Domino Room

- High Fade is a high-energy funk and disco band from Edinburgh, Scotland.
High Fade “doesn’t work unless there’s a crowd, a dance floor and people that want to get down,” says the Scottish band. Which means you, dear reader, have a role to play in their upcoming gig in Bend.
The Domino Room will provide the dance floor, and High Fade will supply a wild-eyed style of music that sounds like a funky disco band playing at the pace of punk rock set to fast forward forever. Somehow just a trio, High Fade combine the arena-filling ambition of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, the razor-sharp funk of viral heroes Vulfpeck and the busking energy of Central Oregon’s own Larry and His Flask into something that has attracted a lot of fans, and fast.
That’s where you come in. If a band rocks its brains out and there’s no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? How can a band melt faces without faces to melt? This is what High Fade means when it says it doesn’t really work unless there’s a crowd, a dance floor and people that want to get down. So people who want to get down: Get on down to the Domino Room and be a part of the equation!
High Fade, with Amargoso: 8 p.m. Sunday, doors open 7 p.m., $12, Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend, midtownballroom.com.
