Beer brand Miller Lite teamed up with Bend’s famous “last Blockbuster” on Thursday for some ‘80s-inspired nostalgia.
The light beer label is re-launching its popular “Great Taste, Less Filling” ad campaign by releasing “beer tapes,” which include a real, playable VHS tape with advertising content and a drinkable novelty glass shaped like a VHS tape. The tapes were available only on Thursday at the Bend Blockbuster on Revere Avenue, widely known as the last Blockbuster video store on Earth.
Wistful for Blockbuster: Last store on Earth waxes nostalgic
In 1975, Miller Lite launched its “Great Taste, Less Filling” ad campaign featuring celebrities arguing the relative merits of Miller Lite beer. It brought its new campaign to Bend’s Blockbuster to tap into the nostalgia-loving fan base of the iconic video store.
This isn’t the first time the Bend Blockbuster has been highlighted for its retro connections. It has been the subject of a Netflix documentary, partnered with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, made a Super Bowl commercial featuring a cockroach who won’t die and has been the subject of a board game.
