Betsy Tucker, a Bend resident who ran for the Deschutes Public Library Board in 2019, was appointed to the board in a unanimous vote Thursday.
Tucker, a former finance manager for the Bend Park & Recreation District, is filling the seat held by longtime board member Ray Miao. He resigned March 13 to dedicate more time to other boards he sits on, he previously told The Bulletin.
“I am a passionate about advocating for libraries and promoting their essential role in our communities,” Tucker said.
Tucker currently sits on the library’s budget committee and foundation board. In addition to the park district, she has held finance positions with the city of Bend, Deschutes County and Bend Fire & Rescue.
Tucker is expected to be sworn in at the board’s April 10 meeting. She will serve the remainder of Miao’s term, until June 2025.
Miao was the second library board member to resign in recent months. Cynthia Claridge of Redmond resigned in February because she moved out of the district. Redmond resident Erin Trimble replaced her.
