Girls
Kensey Gault, Ridgeview track and field: By winning four of the seven events at the Summit Decathlon/Heptathlon meet on March 30, Gault not only was the top finisher, but received a qualifying score (4,270 points) for the Nike Outdoor Nationals in the heptathlon. The senior dominated the field with first-place finishes in the 200 meters, 800, 100-meter hurdles and the high jump, while finishing second in the shot put and long jump.
Brooklyn Chapin, Caldera softball: In Caldera’s 13-3 win over Thurston on March 26 at the North Medford Spring Break Tournament, the freshman dominated at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle. She struck out 10 Colts batters while allowing three runs in seven innings. At the plate she finished with three hits (including a triple) and drove in three runs.
Raelynn Weaver, Crook County softball: In a 3-0 win over Cottage Grove at the Hidden Valley Tournament on March 26, Weaver spun a gem in the pitcher’s circle. The senior right-hander struck out 10 batters and allowed just a single hit in six shutout innings of work.

Boys
Gavin Derr, Mountain View baseball: In 5 1/3 innings on the mound over two appearances at the Lion Invitational in San Diego, the senior southpaw was nearly perfect. He surrendered no hits or runs while striking out 10 batters and issuing just two walks to help the Cougars win all four of their games during spring break.
Gabe Love, Crook County track and field: With 5,232 points, Love finished second and was the highest-scoring Central Oregon athlete at the Summit Decathlon/Heptathlon meet on March 30. The junior had first-place finishes — 400-meter, javelin — in two of the 10 events.
Austin Vaughan, Crook County baseball: In the Cowboys’ 11-1 win over Joseph on March 29, Vaughan allowed just three hits and one unearned run while striking out 12 batters to help Crook County win the White Buffalo Classic. At the plate, the senior collected one hit and drove in two runs in the win.
