Cary Schneider was chosen Tuesday by the Bend Park & Recreation Board to fill a vacancy on the panel.

Schneider is a business owner with nearly 15 years of volunteer experience on boards for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. He has lived in Bend for three years and enjoys the parks and trails with his family. Schneider has a degree in finance and management from the University of Oregon.

Zavier Borja announced his resignation last month. He is stepping down due to an increase in job-related responsibilities.

Schneider will serve until the term ends in June 2025. He was chosen out of 10 candidates and will be sworn in at the April 16 board meeting.

Since Schneider currently serves on the park district’s budget committee and cannot serve on both, a committee vacancy has been announced. Applications are open and are due by noon April 12. More information can be found on the district’s website at www.bendparksandrec.org/about/finance/
