Kelly Cannon-Miller will be honored with an Oregon Heritage Excellence Award, which is for individuals, organizations and projects that have made significant contributions to preserving Oregon’s heritage.
Cannon-Miller, the Deschutes County Historical Society’s executive director, will be honored for her dedication, collaboration and vision in preserving Deschutes County’s heritage.
“I’m lucky to work with the people that I do,” said Cannon-Miller. “I’m honored, and it always feels great to be recognized.”
Several organizations have expressed interest over the years in having a historical perspective for their work, she said. Cannon-Miller is currently on the board of Envision Bend, and serves as a presenter for the Bend 101 project. She has served on several other boards in the past.
In addition to the 12 award recipients, the Oregon Heritage Commission is also recognizing 16 volunteers from heritage organizations across the state for their contributions to preservation efforts.
The award recipients will be honored 6 to 9 p.m. April 18 at the Venetian Hillsboro. The presentation is part of the 2024 Oregon Heritage Conference and tickets can be purchased online.
