Public Land Stewards of Bend, a nonprofit, is hosting a volunteer cleanup event Saturday in three areas of the Deschutes National Forest.
The public is invited to participate in the cleanups at Cabin Butte, Horse Butte or Coyote Butte. The event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The organizers and volunteers will collect and dispose of litter from these areas.
In addition to the cleanup effort, the event organizers and officials from the Deschutes National Forest will block unauthorized, user-created routes along Forest Road 1815. Natural barriers will be strategically placed to prevent future damage and facilitate regeneration of the local ecosystem.
