Melissa Skinner will serve as the permanent superintendent of Crook County Schools after the school board unanimously approved her contract at its Monday night meeting at Brothers Elementary School.
She will start July 15.
Duane Yecha, a former superintendent of the district, has been serving as superintendent in an interim capacity since last summer.
Skinner has served in various educational leadership roles in Texas, and will be moving to Oregon. She is currently serving as the executive director of leadership for Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas. Previously she also served as deputy superintendent, chief academic officer, director of curriculum and instruction and principal.
Before she starts her role, Skinner will familiarize herself with the district’s priorities, opportunities and challenges.
