The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office arrested a La Pine man Tuesday suspected of uploading content depicting child sex abuse after a months-long investigation, officials said.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified the sheriff’s office in February that someone in the county was uploading content containing child sex abuse to a cloud-based digital storage account, Sgt. Jason Wall, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, said in a news release.

Tuesday local and state detectives searched the home of Martin Douglas Adler, 59, who was believed to be the owner of the cloud account, Wall said.

A seven-page indictment filed in Deschutes County Circuit Court Wednesday details Adler’s charges, which were 20 counts of encouraging sexual abuse on multiple occasions between Dec. 1, 2023, and Tuesday and possession of methamphetamine.

Adler was convicted of coercion in Deschutes County in 2018 following a dispute with his then 23-year-old girlfriend, according to court records.

Adler remained in Deschutes County jail without bail Wednesday.
