Zorb and Jackrat celebrate new albums at Bunk + Brew in Bend

Two local rock bands with different styles but kindred spirits will celebrate the release of their new albums Friday night at Bunk + Brew in Bend.

Zorb is a trio of dudes who call what they do surf/ski-grunge rock ‘n’ roll and invite you to “enter Zorbulon and get Zorbed!” Sounds fun. Their debut album, “Back at My House,” which was released this month, features nine tracks that are generally rooted in electrified alt-rock, with generous touches of reggae, blues, folk, punk and pop. You can hear it in all the usual places you hear music.

Jackrat is also a trio, and they play thrashgrass, which as you can probably guess is a revved-up take on bluegrass. With electric guitars and prominent drums, though, it’s a long way from traditional bluegrass. They’re more like bluesy country-punk, a la Hillstomp or local legends Larry and His Flask. Their six-song, self-titled EP came out in March, and you can also hear this one in all the usual places.

Bring some cash for the tip jar, friends!
