- Rosland Elementary School in La Pine.
La Pine families are invited to provide feedback to Bend-La Pine Schools on possibly changing the attendance area between Rosland and La Pine elementary schools.
Rosland Elementary was at capacity last year, while La Pine Elementary has several available classrooms. The goal is to shift 50 to 70 current and future Rosland students to La Pine Elementary.
The district has three proposed plans to change the attendance area, and created a team of staff from the two schools, parents and district staff to make a recommendation to the superintendent by the end of May.
Families are invited to give feedback as well, and will be notified as soon as the superintendent makes a decision. The feedback will be taken through April 17, and can be provided through a survey on the district’s website, www.bend.k12.or.us/boundaries
The factors the district is considering during the process include balanced enrollment, student safety, long-term district needs and safe transportation.
The team will recommend to the superintendent that affected students be allowed to make area change requests, which could allow students to remain at their current schools. The decision is ultimately up to the superintendent. Families who are granted area change requests won’t have busing access and will need to provide their own transportation to and from school.
