Expanded Homegrown Music Festival spotlights local music

Now in its fourth year, the Homegrown Music Festival is growing yet again.
Originally a modest gathering of local artists organized by the High Desert Music Collective in 2020, Homegrown expanded to two stages over two days last year with help from money from the Bend Cultural Tourism Fund. And this year, it moves to three days and six stages spread across four venues in town.
The best place to get more details is instagram.com/homegrownmusicfestival420, and here’s an overview of what’s planned:
– A pre-party is going down Thursday at Volcanic Theatre Pub (70 SW Century Drive, Bend), featuring Company Grand, Oregon Fryer and Pete Kartsounes. 8 p.m., doors open 7 p.m., $10, available at volcanictheatre.com.
– On Friday and Saturday, two stages each at Silver Moon Brewing (24 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend) and Bunk + Brew (42 NW Hawthorne Ave., Bend) will hum with live sets day and night. Who’s playing those stages is a who’s-who of the Central Oregon music scene, including Fractal, Mari and the Dream, Night Channels, Chiggi Momo, Dead Nettle, The Mostest, Jeshua Marshall, Silvertone Devils and many more.
– Late-night shows will happen both Friday (with Billy and the Box Kid and Quattlebaum Quintet) and Saturday (Watkins Glen and TEB) at the Domino Room (51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend). Both start at 9 p.m., with doors opening at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, available at midtownballroom.com.
If you’re interested in a snapshot of the local music scene, you could do a lot worse than spending the weekend at Homegrown.
