Every week in Central Oregon, you can find a lot of live blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll on area stages. It’s plentiful, and that’s great. But it’s plentiful.

So here’s something you can’t get locally every week: On Tuesday, High Desert Music Hall in Redmond will host an evening of globally inspired instrumental music, new age sounds, transcendental tones and spiritual zones courtesy two unique and compelling artists.

Opening the evening will be Senegalese musician Youssoupha Sidibe, a world-class player of the kora, an African stringed instrument. He blends West African sounds with reggae and devotional chanting, and he has collaborated with Central Oregon faves like Matisyahu, Steve Kimock and Michael Franti. But don’t let that distract you from his own music, which is soulful, soothing and beautiful.

Headlining the show is Poranguí, a multi-instrumentalist who grew up absorbing three different cultures in Brazil, Mexico and the Southwestern U.S. A trained ethnomusicologist and one-man orchestra (thanks to live looping technology), his music is a meditative mix of Afro-Brazilian sounds, acoustic guitar, improvisation, indigenous rhythms and healing vibes. He comes to Redmond on his World Bridging Tour: A Journey of Sound, Movement and Spirit.

This one’s going to be a transportive, soul-stirring experience for anyone who shows up.

Poranguí, with Youssoupha Sidibe: 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, doors open 6 p.m., $40 in advance, $45 day of show, High Desert Music Hall, 818 SW Forest Ave., Redmond, highdesertmusichall.com.
