Oregon State junior Jade Carey established a gymnastics school record Thursday night when she tied for second in all-around at the NCAA championships at Fort Worth, Texas.

Carey just missed winning the national championship, scoring a 39.70 to tie Florida’s Leanne Wong for second. Haleigh Bryant of LSU took first with a score of 39.7125.

Carey won her first all-around medal in three trips to the NCAAs. Her second-place finish is the highest in school history, besting Mary Ayotte-Law’s third-place finish in 1982. Carey’s 39.70 score is OSU’s best-ever NCAA score in all-around.

Carey also tied for second in floor with a 9.95 score, and tied for third in beam, increasing her career NCAA medal total to five. Carey previously took seconds in beam (2023) and bars (2022).

Carey, who is prepping to earn a berth on the U.S. Olympic team for this summer’s Paris Games, scored 9.95 on floor and beam, and 9.90 on bars and vault.

Carey was the only Beaver competing in this year’s NCAA championship meet.
