Unemployment rates rose just slightly in all three Central Oregon counties in March, over the month prior, according to monthly data released by the Oregon Employment Department.

In March, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Deschutes County inched up to 4.1%, compared to 4% in February, according to the employment data released Tuesday. Job losses were in the manufacturing and trade, transportation and utility sector of the economy, according to the report.

Year over year, however, the county saw job growth in the leisure and hospitality, education and health services sectors, according to the report.

In Jefferson County, the March seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly in March to 4.7%, compared to 4.6% in February, according to the report. In the past year, the county experienced a 1.5% job loss concentrating in the wood products manufacturing sector, retail and government sectors, according to the report.

In Crook County, the March seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 6.3%, compared to 6% during the same period the year before, according to the report. Despite this, the county gained 50 jobs in March, adding to the public sector. Most of the job losses were in construction.

In all, Crook County lost 380 jobs in the past year.
