Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Salem-area fugitive wanted on suspicion of robbery and assault on Friday at the Cascade Village Shopping Center in Bend.
The U.S. Marshals Service notified the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office on Friday that Ryan R. Gossett, 38, of Turner, was wanted on three warrants alleging robbery and was believed to be in the Bend area, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Police located Gossett and a woman driving a car at the Cascade Village Shopping Center. After Gossett and the woman switched positions in the vehicle, putting Gossett at the wheel, sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement conducted a “pre-planned maneuver” to pin the suspect vehicle and make it immobile, a maneuver that caused minor damage to law enforcement vehicles, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gossett was considered armed and dangerous, and was known to attempt to flee from police, according the sheriff’s office.
Police arrested Gossett and the woman he was with without incident, according to the sheriff’s office release. Gossett had a concealed handgun and a criminal quantity of suspected fentanyl, the release said. He was lodged at the Deschutes County jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery, third-degree assault, attempting to elude police, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The woman was released.
