Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bend man Sunday for allegedly trying to meet with an underage girl he met online, law enforcement said Monday.
Jeffrey Scot Kingsbury, 47, was arrested near the Riverwoods Country Store on Baker Road near Deschutes River Woods on suspicion of online corruption of a child, luring a minor, attempted sexual abuse and possession of methamphetamine, Sgt. Jason Wall, a spokesperson for the office, said in a news release.
The arrest came after the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office conducted a weekslong investigation. Kingsbury allegedly engaged in “overtly sexual conversations” on social media with someone he believed was a girl under the age of 16.
“The alleged female was actually a Deschutes County Deputy from the Patrol Division,” Wall said.
He sent “intimate images” of himself to the deputy posing as a minor and described and requested “explicit acts” from the minor, Wall said. Kingsbury was aware that who he thought he was communicating with was younger than 16 years old, the release said.
Kingsbury planned to meet who he thought was a young girl in the area around the store on Sunday, and sent photos of the car he’d be driving, Wall said.
Deputies watching the area saw Kingsbury arrive around 10:15 p.m., Wall said. Deputies and a police dog closed in on Kingsbury as he exited his car, and he was arrested without incident, Wall said.
Kingsbury was arraigned in Deschutes County Circuit Court on Monday on the charges of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child, luring a minor, attempt to commit a Class B felony and unlawful possession of meth, according to court records.
