People signed up for Deschutes Alerts, a local notification system for emergencies, will receive a test alert Wednesday.

The test message will be sent at 1 p.m. Wednesday to ensure all subscribers are current, Sgt. Nathan Garibay, Deschutes County’s emergency manager, said in a news release Monday.

“If you receive the message on May 1 and you don’t need to change anything on your profile, there’s no need to contact us,” Garibay said.

Deschutes Alerts notifies subscribers of emergency threats and evacuations via smart phone app, text, email or phone.

People can sign up for Deschutes Alerts at deschutesalerts.org. Any questions can be addressed by calling the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office at 541-388-6501.
