Three decades ago, Scott Cook was departing on one of his first fly-fishing guide trips in Sunriver. Now, he’s a managing partner of an upcoming food truck pod in the area.
Cook envisions Century Commons Taps and Trucks as a family-friendly gathering space.
“To me, ‘commons’ is an area that everybody is welcome, It’s a gathering area. It’s a meeting place,” Cook said.
The forthcoming food cart pod will feature seven food trucks, 18 taps of rotating beer and cider and a 3,300-square-foot heated tap house. There will also be a live music stage, an outdoor space for year-round events and an estimated total of 134 seats.
Cook also owns Fly & Field Outfitters, a company his family purchased in 2004. The fly shop and guide service has stores in Bend and Sunriver. The latter was established in 2022, after which Cook started spending more time in Sunriver and realized the need for a food cart pod, he said.
“It’s a business model that makes a lot of sense,” Cook said. “We’ve seen this business model be successful all over the Pacific Northwest.”

Cook is in conversation with potential food trucks he hopes will expand the culinary options in Sunriver.
“There’s no Asian food. There’s no sushi. There’s no barbecue place. There’s just not as much diversity in the food out there as there could be,” he said.
Cook partnered with his sister Shelly Leavitt and brother-in-law Andrew Leavitt to bring the concept to life. According to the business plan, the Leavitts bring management experience in the food and beverage industry.
An Oregon Trail-themed food cart pod opened in Sunriver in 2018. Ekibou’s Food Cart Park closed for the season in September that same year, never to reopen.
Compared to the former food cart lot, which was owned and developed by Mike McGinn, the new concept will offer expanded heated seating and is positioned at a more visible location at the Sunriver Business Park, Cook said.
The expected opening is July 1.
